For all those people hanging around for answers... County Finals will not be at Selsey next week It was never on the cards.... So here is the truth... copy of emails below.... Dear All Paul Thomson has been in contact with Bunn Leisure directly and has asked some pertinent questions. Please take the time to read and digest the response below from Bunn Leisure. Many thanks Craig Ray EBPF National Secretary From: Neil Ainsworth <NJA@bunnleisure.co.uk> Sent: 01 March 2019 10:41 To: paul thomson <chairman@ebpf.uk> Cc: craig@globalremediations.co.uk; Paul Eaton <international@ebpf.uk>; eventscoord@ebpf.uk; Daryl Bown <treasurer.ebpf@gmail.com>; Steve Finnegan <vicechairman@ebpf.uk> Subject: RE: County Finals. Hi Paul It was good to talk with you on the phone earlier and I have detailed the conversations I have had about your tournament below; We had been made aware that you had booked your tournament at the Pontins Brean Sands site and ,after the unfortunate events over the February half-term, it was unlikely that this event would be able to go ahead. I had discussed the possible fallout with my Group Complex Manager, Peter Treagust, and that we may receive a phone call to discuss possible availability. Peter rang me on the morning of Thursday 28th February to say he had just spoken with Mike Leavens and he would be calling me direct to discuss options. My first contact was with Mike Leavens from LEC yesterday (Thursday 28th February) at 9.50am – Mike explained the general situation and asked whether Bunn Leisure could facilitate the event starting next week on Wednesday 6th March until Sunday 10th March. He explained that there would be between 800 and 900 attendees and they would be looking at needing 215 units of accommodation. There were some further discussions regarding how much was being charged, payments to LEC and potential costs that needed to be covered. I explained to Mike that, prior to discussing financial arrangements, I needed to check our current availability as, in the 10 or so previous years, your Pool Tournament had been pre-booked in advance and therefore we would not have sold any units of accommodation to holiday guests and we had pre-arranged with as many Owners to use their caravans. I could not guarantee that we had availability and I said to Mike Leavens that I would call him later that day with our current situation. I then called Mike Leavens back at 1.40pm and said that, as expected, we had sold more than 80 units for the following weekend and unfortunately would not be able to facilitate the event for the dates he requested. I did mention there were a number of other options, albeit later in the year, that we could potentially offer the required units should he wish to discuss them with the committee. This has been the extent of my correspondence with Mike and at no point have I spoken with Joe Flaherty or anyone else from LEC.
