Hi, Please see the following shot played during a Chinese Pool game: https://www.facebook.com/ChinesePool/...494084273/ While this is not a shot played during an English Blackball Pool game, it has been asked if this would be a legal shot during such a game. I believe, based on rule 5e, Jumpshots, that it is a foul. As the cue ball leaves the bed of the table and misses an object ball that it would have otherwise struck had the cue ball not left the table on an otherwise identical shot. However, I am told that the cue ball must pass directly over another ball. This kind of makes sense, as otherwise a massé shot could potentially be called as a jump due to the cue ball needing to skid, leaving the table bed, before it grips and swerves back. In an otherwise identical shot it would continue straight and possibly into a ball it shouldn't. Steve |
